Samoa, South pacific and time-zone geopolitics

Samoa lies south of the equator, about halfway between Hawaii and New Zealand, in the Polynesian region of the Pacific Ocean. Population is around 185,000. To promote closer business ties with Australia and New Zealand, Samoa switched sides of the International Date Line in 2011 with a change of 24 hours (leaving US time zone to join Australia time zone).
